Purple Basket Quilt

Finished my quilt top for Hands 2 Help charity organized over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  I do love purple.  I say that my favorite color is green and I think it is; however, my husband says I pick purple far more than  I pick any other color.  :)  Now that the tops finished I need to decide what to do for the back!

Mother's day is just around the corner and so I've been thinking about my Mama a lot lately.  I love her so and I am so blessed that she is a part of my life.  So many things she said I'd understand when I got older, I do. So many things that she said I was strong enough to make it through, I did.  So many things she said I'd love as a mother, I love.  She is a reflection of grace and EXCITEMENT.  :)

I've also started another quilt with a little Marmalade.  Who doesn't love some Marmalade.  -Have a great Weekend! -Little Mama Hen

Hands to Help 2013

Hands to Help quilt
Have you been over to Sarah's blog  Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  What amazes me about her blog is the group of women that work together to quilt and provide quilts to their community.  It just looks like a fun place to be.  She is rallying for two quilt donation drives and she calls the project  Hands to Help.  You can read all about it and join in the fun.

I picked a pattern from a magazine that my Mama bought me.  The pattern is called Reticulum by Thomas Knauer.  Of course, as usual, I didn't follow the pattern exactly.  I have a habit of letting the quilt speak and change and bend as it pleases.  I have all the blocks completed and now I'm piecing them together.  Fun.
It is rare that I'm ever working on just one project.  I'm also piecing some pretty little dresden petals to make another baby quilt.  Oh but I do love those little petals.

I hope that you have a wonderful Monday. -Little Mama Hen

Scrappy Cute

Quilt Front
I have another baby quilt ready and once again I love the back as much as the front.  I may love the back even more. Scrappy is so much fun and always turns out unique.

Ladybug Quilt

Quilt Size:  48" x 60"
All I have left to complete on my Ladybug quilt is the hand stitching on the binding (I love to hand bind my quilts).   How do you bind your quilts?  I learned from This Video by Connecting Threads.  No tools required!!  I know that everyone finds what works best for them and I really like this method.
I really like the backing fabric.  I couldn't decide between a white fabric with red flowers or this luscious dark fabric.  They were both beautiful, but I like the dramatics that the dark fabric brings.

Another project I've started is Hands to Help Charity over at Sarah's Blog (Confessions of a Fabric Addict).  I've chosen a 'net' pattern by the fabric designer Thomas Knauer.  I discovered his fabric line when I was making Miracle Boy's Quilt.

I didn't use any of Thomas Knauer's fabric for this charity quilt, just some pretty purples from my LQS.

It was also my Niece's 22nd Birthday and we celebrated this past weekend!  Wait, did I say 22nd??!!  My little Petunia was just a little one yesterday and I was putting pretty petunias in her hair.  (*wiping a tear at how time flys).  She loves Star Wars and I found a sweet tote in Moda's book Fresh Fabric Treats.  It was my first time making my own fabric buttons!!  Loved it!

Also, working on some dish cloths for a couple of my friends.  I still want to make Tiny Aprons for their dish soap bottles and then they'll be off in the mail.  :)
And Last but not least, our sweet little MaoMao has turned ONE YEARS OLD!!  of course, he was a stray that showed up at our house, but my Little Ladybug picked out an approximate birthday for him. She's so sweet.

Have a great Wednesday!! - Little Mama Hen.

Finished Quilt for my Cousin!

Front

A beautiful quilt finish for a beautiful day.  Here in Florida the rain comes often; however, sometimes I wish it rained more.  I love rain!  I love thunder and seeing the cracks of light flash across the sky.  It seems like forever since the rain has fallen; today and yesterday it has been cloudy, raining, thundery, and I love it.  I'm also cooking some Shawarma and I can't wait to eat some with cucumber sauce.

Well, this lovely Quilt has two sides.  :)  The front is 4" squares with 2" square sashings and the back!  Well, Dresdens of course!  I hope your weekend will be full of love and laughter.  -Little Mama Hen.

Hot Pink for a Cousin

Do you get excited when you start a new quilt or sewing project.  I do.  I get slightly giddy as I stack all the fabric on my cutting mat.  You know what else is exciting?  When someone wants me to make them something!  Recently my cousin asked me to make a quilt for her daughter and I was thrilled!!!  Her daughter likes hot pink and lime green.  I have the top completed.  It's 54"x60" and will make a nice throw quilt.  Now, I just have to design the back.  I like making my quilts reversible.
I also finished another baby quilt.  I used V and Co. line called Simply Color.  Have you ever read her blog?  She's pretty awesome and her stories about her family events are hilarious!  Anyway, I used a 16 patch block mimicking a Greek Cross.  It's very scrappy and CUTE.

I'm also working on some Mug Rugs for my sister's co workers, but no pics yet.

Well, That's it for now.  Hope your day is fun and beautiful. - Little Mama Hen.

Foxy Mama

FRONT
My Sister N Law is having a birthday this month.  She lives in Indiana and will probably see this post before her package arrives, but she'll be surprised as she's reading this post!  :)  I rarely get to see her, because we live so far apart.  She is so laid back and enjoyable to be around, I wish we lived closer.  We recently started following each other on Pinterest and I discovered that she likes foxes!!  So I found some really CUTE fox fabric and made her a pillow sham!  I've never made a pillow sham before and it was FUN!  I found an excellent tutorial over at Pile O Fabric.  I want to make some more for my couch pillows. :)  When I was admiring the back of my newly sewn pillow sham, I noticed a few squares that were really 'OFF'.  It made me smile, because I must have been sipping my wine and sewing.  lol  never sip and sew unless you're willing to accept the little oops that may appear.  ;)  of course, sometimes those little oops are worth the smile.  :)

Scrappy Little Log Cabin

I would love to live in a log cabin! with a wrap around porch and a swing and maybe a couple of chicks and baby goats.  Well, actually a farm is a lot of work, maybe I'd just like to vacation in a log cabin.  :)  I've never made a Log Cabin quilt before, but after working on this little cutie, I WILL!  So cute, so fun, so quick!

I also have a charm pack of Oink A Doodle Moo!  I already have my pattern idea pinned and saved on Pinterest!
'

I also have my Cross quilt pinned and ready to quilt.  :)

Most of my day was spent outside playing in the gorgeous Florida Sun with two little sweethearts! 75 degrees!!  I know I shouldn't boast too much, because come Summer I'll be melting and whining.  ;)  and speaking of sweethearts, have you ever been serenaded by a 4 year old at 5:30 in the morning.  :)  I have and I don't care that I didn't have my coffee fix yet, it was precious!  He sang me Ho Hey from the Lumineers. -Have a great weekend! Baby Quilts

I've been working on lots of baby quilts lately and it's so fun!  I haven't done much of anything else except turn a year older.  :)

I love green and I think the Irish Chain is one of the most dainty looking patterns, love it.

Pink and Grey are so lovely together.  They compliment each other so elegantly.

I had a Vintage Modern charm pack that I decided to make this scrappy little cutie!

Well, I hope your week is going well too! -Little Mama Hen

Red and White

One of the reasons I have so many WIP (works in progress) is because Quilting is fairly new to me and I want to try every new design and idea that I see!  I'm not satisfied with making one block and then moving on, the block has to 'become' something.  However, I get so many new ideas, I hop from one project to another and start 5 more before I ever finish one.   This is ok with me, it's just the kind of artist I am.

I have decided though, to make several small baby/doll/lap quilts to help bring some of my  many projects to a finish line.  One of those projects is this sweet little red and white quilt.  I think she is darling.  I'm not actually finished yet.  I'm waiting for some backing fabric to arrive (fingers crossed, maybe today!).

Well, I hope your Friday is filled with lots of fun and quilting goodness.  -Little Mama Hen

And then there were TWO.

My childhood friend from This is the Life blog is not just having one, but TWO!!  Well, I should clarify that she and her husband are adopting two little boys.  They were planning on just one, but when the adoption agency called and said they had two little brothers, their hearts were swept away!  Check out her blog for an amazing journey!  Anyway, I had already made her one quilt, but when I heard there will be two, I started working on the second one.  Tada!!  I found the design on Pinterest and fell in love with it.  Isn't it just darling!

Oh and remember that pile of wool I had?!  Well, introducing my first Needle Felted Bear!!!  Isn't he just so fat and fuzzy!  I think he needs something to hold, maybe a heart?  or a baby bear?  we'll see.  If you want to give Needle Felting a try (and I suggest it, HIGHLY!) check out Plum Blossom Farm.  Carole takes care and loves her little sheep on her very own farm!  She has a Bear Kit on her Etsy Shop .

I continue to work on my patchwork crosses!

MaoMao is a little sad that the Christmas tree is gone, but he loves to sit on the patio  in HIS chair. lol

My Best Friend Life is a wonderful opportunity to explore and cling to what makes you happy.  His love is constant and steady, nothing I...
